Hosting Telecom ("we", "us", "our", "the Company") operates the HTC Net Messenger mobile application ("the App", "HTC Net Messenger"). This page describes how we use SMS messaging as part of the Service, the consent we rely on, and how you can opt out. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. Scope & Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to register for the App (see Terms of Service, Section 1). By submitting your phone number you confirm that you are the account holder for, or are otherwise authorised to receive SMS at, the number you provide.
2. SMS Verification Consent
By entering your phone number in the HTC Net Messenger application and tapping "Continue" to register, verify, or recover your account, you expressly consent to receive SMS text messages from HTC Net Messenger (operated by Hosting Telecom) containing one-time verification codes (OTP) at the phone number you provide. Your consent is specific to the verification messages described below and does not authorise marketing or promotional messages of any kind.
3. Types of Messages
We send SMS messages exclusively for the following purposes:
- One-time password (OTP) verification codes during account registration.
- Verification codes when you change the phone number on your account.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) codes for account recovery, where enabled.
We do not send marketing, promotional, transactional, or informational SMS of any kind. We do not use your phone number for any non-verification SMS purpose.
4. Message Frequency
SMS is sent only when you initiate a registration, phone-number change, or recovery flow in the App. A user typically receives 1–3 messages per attempt, each containing a 6-digit code valid for 10 minutes. If you do not initiate a flow, we will not send you a message.
5. Carrier & Data Charges
Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Hosting Telecom is not responsible for any charges your carrier imposes for receiving SMS. International SMS charges may apply if your carrier treats our sending number as international.
6. STOP and HELP Keywords
You may opt out of receiving SMS from our verification number at any time by replying STOP. Your number will then be excluded from further SMS from that sender; no further verification messages will be sent to it unless you start a new registration or recovery flow from the App.
For support, reply HELP to any verification message, or use our contact form. Replies to automated verification numbers are not monitored by a human — please use the contact form for anything beyond STOP / HELP keywords.
7. SMS Provider (Data Processor)
We use Twilio Inc. and its Twilio Verify product as our SMS delivery provider. Twilio acts as our data processor for the sole purpose of delivering verification codes. When you request a code, your phone number is transmitted to Twilio so that Twilio can deliver the SMS via its carrier relationships. Twilio's handling of phone numbers and delivery metadata is governed by its own privacy and security terms, which we select based on industry practice and compliance posture. We do not share your phone number with any other SMS provider, aggregator, or third party for messaging purposes.
8. Data Retention
We do not retain the SMS message bodies we send. We retain a short record of verification events (such as "a code was requested for number X at time T, verified yes/no") for a limited period to support security, fraud prevention, and rate-limiting. This retention is covered by the operational logs described in our Privacy Policy, Section 7.
9. Sample Message
"Your HTC Net Messenger verification code is: 123456. This code expires in 10 minutes. Do not share this code with anyone."
10. Revocation of Consent
You may revoke your consent at any time by (a) replying STOP to a verification message, (b) not completing a registration flow, or (c) deleting your HTC Net Messenger account through the App or by contacting us. Revocation may prevent you from completing registration, verifying your phone number, or recovering your account — the Service requires SMS verification for registration, and we cannot provide the Service to an account whose phone number we are unable to verify.
11. Contact
If you have any questions about our SMS messaging practices, please contact us using our contact form.
